oh my, last project.

Well I, Alyosha Dotson was selected by a colleague of mine Mathew French to work with him the last project. I am pretty sure Mr. French has given you the high points of what he wants to do with the final project. We both will be performing in this video among other certified actors. I believe my main participation in this project would be filming and editing, and also generating ridiculous ideas to direct. I believe that if necessary our video can be projected at a large scale or we may decide to use a tv monitor and display it there. I am not quite sure in that department yet. The equipment that we will be using is high tech stuff, such as XL2 and other industry gadgets that I am supposed to know the name of but I don’t. whateve, I get the job done irregardless. Oh yes our video will be a Kun fu video with dramatics in acting! Ok I think uhmm that pretty much sums it up I am quite definite sure Mr. French did an extended version of this future work. I must go now to the clay bodies’ make-a-thon for I am late. Boo.

what what!

Our project consists of a schlptur/video/perfomance in the video/maybe some audio that is up tho Tori who is in-charge of audio and well i am not quite sure what else. the plan is to project the video on to the sculpture part which is tree branches painted white and the video will be projected on to them. the video is tree branches movie with a silhouette perhaps of someone smoking a cigar. contribution, well my contribution is quite amazing. just kidding. in my group we are distributing the work load quite evenly. my part is to work on the editing and help the rest of the group with their editing skills. i also did some of the filming with my teams input on what shots to get and how to go about achieving each shot. well this is all i can tell you because this is all i know of so far. thank you for stopping by.

she really needs to get a clue

Andrea bower well, her skills using colored pencils is phenomenal indeed. hmm her work for my taste i suppose was alright i wasn't quite impressed with the content, and she could of had a chance of making that up when she was speaking. her topic with abortion was good i think the best part was the drawings i didn't care much for the graphite prints. and the xerox/wraping paper i think it needed more content. i think andrea needed to really search with in her self and check on how she feels about the situation. it seems like she is just piking a topic which is hot right now and going on with it instead of searching with in her loins on her true feelings about it.

i got a lil confused

Miranda July is a very well diverse artist; she is a performance artist who is also involved in film, music, writing and acting. Miranda has done more than a hand full of short films like The Amateurist, Are you the favorite person of anybody. Her full length film is called “Me and you and everyone we know” I think this film uses multimedia and video very well, in the film she plays a video artist and it show how she uses deferent forms of media to make her at work. For instance uses photographs of people or sceneries and involves the picture creatively as a form of actual scene and conversation. She may add sound to the image/video by using different media means like a T.V. using snow channel for ambient noise like an ocean. Miranda also uses the internet as a form of art which gets the common man or woman involved. Her site is called “learned to love you more” and it involves assignments for people to do. My favorite assignment is give advice to your self when you were younger.

"going digital 2.0"

Well, the lecture was good I suppose, Scott Martin was really thorough with his explanations about color management, calibration, color correction, slide scanning and shooting with a digital camera.
But I believe the most important part of his lecture, to me at least, was color correction and calibration. Calibrating is a program that what you see on the screen is going to be the exact same color, and such as when you pint it out. Sometimes what we view on or computer screen may be what we want and expect to come out in the printer but most of the time what we print usually come out a little bit darker. So I recon the calibration program or computer accessory it helps you get the exact same color that you have on your paper on your screen, so there will be no surprises when the final product is printed.

no more owlssss!!!

So far my project has been going well. This is after changing my idea completely and four hours of trying to figure out final cut pro, but I got figured out finally… kind of but so far I know my way around it pretty good. I think I am getting too used to avid. But it is good to know both editing programs. My project still needs quite a bit before it’s complete. Ideas keep popping in my mind and sometimes I go completely blank. I suppose i go blank because I believe that there’s so much going on in my cranium and maybe that’s a reason for my work being so random. Sometimes it really bothers me and I kind of panic and don’t know what to do, but this morning I sat while eating a banana nut muffin, and I decided that since music is such a big influence on my work, at least it was last year and it was kind of a guide for me, kept me sane and with an abundance of ideas I decided to incorporate some music into my work that kind of goes with a certain scenes. It is still random but I believe it will tie things together smoothly. The work kind of separates it self from the theme but in the end the theme will be pronounce.

Late I know and I apologize.

At the first the article “Second thought” regarding second life, did not make much sense to me due to the fact that it took a while for them to get to the point, but I am sure some of my Sunday evening laziness took part in it as well. What I understood form the article is that people are creating a second type of life by the use of video games. This made me think of a certain game called “The Sims,” this game is about creating a make believe life or family and controlling events with in the game. I believe this second life deal is about having full control on a fictional life through media. As if were and escape from the reality of life, or in harsh words the reality of how fucked up life can be, through the perspective that we as people can’t control certain situations. I also believe this second life is a way to make certain fantasies of ours come true, not only controlling the situation of a fictional second life but fantasies that as real human we can not achieve, maybe because they are absurd and just plainly not politically correct with society or perhaps the fact that our fantasies can be so imaginative and creative, like flying rhinos and singing pigs with cats wearing boots as bass. To a degree this second life talk is a great way to let people not only interact with new media but also, expand their imagination and making dream only situations come true.
blah blah

"it beats me, but I do not know"

I think Kota pretty much ruled. I really enjoyed his explanation about how music videos have completely changed over a period of twenty plus years. I do believe that over a time period of fame and such some bands do become a little bit egotistical which later do become narcissist. I agree with Kota that some videos should be left with out the subject of the band. And let either the band or some artist become creative and create certain light movements or animations for unique rhythms with in the music. I think the highlight of the lecture, to me at least, was the recreation of Bjork’s “all is full of love video” by the two transvestites. Pure genius. I believe that the video in a non-direct way shows that even with a little but an abundance of imagination a lot can be achieved.

P.S I am one of them folks who do make up their own music videos while listening to the good ole ipod. It rulzzzz

short post about theme.

I suppose I have chosen owls as my theme for the next exercise or exercises. I like vintage owls to be precise I think they have a lot of character to them, sassiness, silliness, and some sort of pride. Personally I think they are very calming and chill. Really just see for your self:

Progress report, which is not so progressive.

I believe my project will consist of some type of picture collage with the input of some 3 D materials. How will I achieve this I am not quite sure yet, maybe scanning perhaps. My project will be a utopia. The utopia will be a vineyard that my parents own. The progress on this project… well its to its minimum, meaning its yet to get started because I am freaking out on how to execute this endeavor (I am sure that word doesn’t go, but it sounds good) yet my goal for the day is to get what need cut up and start figuring were to place certain images and such.

indentity theft perhaps.

Identity is a persons complete information, what he/she does, and does not, their unique finger prints, DNA, hair color, blood type. Identity in the web is more of a personal type of information. For instance myspace, letting the reader know you, through what you write, which, is your best interpretation of your self, as a civilian of the world. Identity on the web can be a picture of you and a brief paragraph stating your interest and dislikes. Yet the amazing part of the web is that people sometimes alter things to seem more appealing. Web identity is not always true, but that's the magic of the web, for those who whish they were something else, the web can let them be anything they would like to portray themselves as in their own site. Web identity can be also helpful for an artist, business person etc. I believe the main reason of identity is to get known, and achieve greatness in what we do through the web, regardless of what it is, business, pleasure, and pastime.

"what is multimedia"

Multimedia is a medium of communications with the use or association of several medium components. Multimedia art to me means the use of computer technology and some old school technology to enhance and image and make it work the way the artists wants it. Multimedia is usually worked with two or more combinations elements such as text, image, sound, speech, video, and computer programs. Multimedia can be dated back to the 1800’s when the first, telegraph was sent. Ever since then multimedia has evolved into more artistic way of communications and art work such as film, sound, photography, etc. Multimedia art can be done by using the computer to add special features, like enhancing a certain color to stand out and blur the background or foreground. Multimedia can also be used to make thing more futuristic or more abstract, and it can make the viewer feel as if he or she is really in the image or in the world that the artists is trying being portray through the work. Multimedia today is a big participant in the marketing world especially for clothing designers; it’s a unique way for them to show off their product with an edgy style, to attract the consumer.

test run.

testing 1,2,3. testing testing.
check, check, check.
everything seems kosher so far.
