The objective of "tell ons" is to create a fun moment, by showing the viewer my own little crazy issues and attempts at live. Honestly is something to make the viewer laugh, my self laugh and have fun and not take life so seriously.

Tell Ons.

Who: Alyosha burkey
What: tell ons } “chosen one” “I fantasize” “dyson”…etc
What: screening
When:…open house sometime in late April
How: ….
Idea/Concept: “Tell ons” is a series of videos, which can be considered somewhat self-portrait or video diary. The content of these videos is light hearted and comical. They deal with short stories were I am telling on my self about some uncensored comments I make my ideas, infatuations and fantasies. I want the viewer to feel at home, like we are having a personal conversation or look into the life of Alyosha. “Tell ons” are meant to be fun and have fun with our own little dorkiness!

ann arbor film fest

The festival was an AMAZING experience. Clark and I watch a lot of videos that we really enjoyed and some that are questionable, but overall the experience was great. One of my favorite days was when we had the student showing. It was a good experience seeing what other students are making and what they used and their techniques. I think its good to see other film or video students and view what they are making with different backgrounds of study.

Clark and I missed the gala opening of the film fest but we made it in time to watch the first set of films being shown. I really enjoyed western spaghetti by Pes. What I enjoyed about the animation was the immense attention to detail and also the comical feel of it. Something so simple like making spaghetti and viewing it in a fun form makes it really exciting.

Dahlia by Michael Langan was another one of my favorites… pretty much the whole fest was great I have lots of faves. meeting new people and being able to experience it with classmates made it really fun.

When can we do it again?!?!?!

taking the train was cool, but after a few hours i start feeling claustrophobic, yet its pretty relaxing.

"Get schooled" is video that is lighthearted but packs a punch on serious topics relating to art and it's importance or to some it's inimportance

luminaria

I think Luminaria was really good this year I believe it was a larger turn out than last.
People really enjoyed what us video kids had to offer. And making work that can be easily understood and viewer friendly . seeing people take Utah’s giveaway art and interacting with johns pieces made me feel really happy because people are letting their guard down and opening them selves to “new media” and checking out the goods. My parents really enjoyed it specially my mom and my dad took one of Utah’s videos, not sure if he has watched it yet…

On another note Sarah did an amazing job with the article before and after Luminaria. She makes us seem really hardcore. I like that!

I’m glad that we pulled a kick ass show that was a great with the “normal crowd”

Luminaria proposal

I have been really thinking about this project and I have had ideas come in and out of my head and trying to really do something that hints art and education and how it is truly needed in our public school. Weather it being art or music, being a band geek myself in my youthful years in grade school. So I would like to do some kind of mockery about what would happen if there were never arts involved in schools or something like that. Maybe a video relating to the importance the arts had on me as a child or what not. The work would probably be a single channel either projection or flat screen depending on what kind of space we have to work with.
