Kristen's assignment

If I remember correctly Kristen’s assignment is where do we see our selves as artist in 10 15 years? I remember being asked a question similar to that my junior year in high school I believe the question asked where do I see my self in 5 years or so. I remember responding, “probably at a hardcore concert with my lip pierced!” I did the hardcore concert and the lip piercing but I only did it for a while and in high school days I remember thinking hardcore kid was going to be my way of life. Boy was I wrong.
Its been 5 years since that question and I am married, didn’t see that then and 1 semester away from graduating, in my high school days I actually thought I would end up just eazzing my way, and maybe prolong my college carrier and just live a care free life! So back to Kristen’s question, in a perfect world were everything we hope for and plan on happens I would say, I see my self as a well known movie editor it being indi films or major, and while doing that as a major source of income I would be also practicing my video skills it being self diaries VJ or instillations and be well known trough out the world. Better than Mathew barney and his pompous ass. But this is life and life likes to give us a few crazy curves so, my hopes in 15 years as and artist is to still have the skill, practice and talent to still call my self and artist.

Josh Assignment: uncomfortable

Before josh even proposed the assignment I had already encountered my uncomfortable moment. My then future to be sister in law planned my batchlorette party or extravaganza evening. She had a really nice evening planed out dinner and some kind of a bar hoping expiriance. I personally am not much of a bar/club goer not really my cup of tea, something about girls or single middle aged women wishing they were 20 again by wearing a 20 year old wardrobe doesn’t really rub my fancy. Anywho our fist stop was dinner, we had chachos… we hit up other spots till we got Swig north, never herd of it till I saw the sign that night. Well the club/bar is one of those kind that attracts all types of single women waiting to be taken and looking very desperately. By this time I have only had say two drinks not enough to get me sick, but a large amount of chahos king kong nachos and was not feeling very fresh, actually very sick to my stomach, on top of that I am feeling very uncomfortable in this bar because I feel that the ladies there think very mean things when you don’t look up to par to their style and “sluttiness” per say. Any who I get really sick, throwing up sick, at the bar and have to use the facilities several times to handle my issues on top of that having to deal with the stares of these women in the bathroom. I don’t think I’ve ever had a more uncomfortable moment than that. Women scare me specially the ones who try to hard and desperate.

i wouldn't mind having this.

Clark and I continuously oooozz about the Red One camera. Red one camera was founded in 2005 by Jim Jannard, founder of the Oakley company. The company's main product is the Red One, capable of recording at resolutions up to 4096 horizontal by 2304 vertical pixels, directly to flash or hard disk based digital storage. It’s a great camera that gives you really good HD “Industry” quality camera for a not so hefty price. At first consumers thought that red one camera would go for about $250k, but the RED site is saying $17,500 MSRP. Not to bed I think a good investment for UTSA. ^_^

hard candy

Hard candy.

A while back I, bout 3-4 weeks ago I watched a movie called hard candy with Ellen page. The movie was made back in ’05, and it’s about a 14-year old girl who meets up with a 32-year old photographer on the Internet. Suspecting that he is a pedophile, she goes to his home in an attempt to expose him. The movie is really intense but, it sortta kinda relates to what we’ve been talking about in class about the trolls and online predators. Besides the subject matter of the film the movie is very well made with its use of color, I like how it creates a mood by the color tonality and suspension I guess.

I enjoy the use of color in the film to make the viewer feel a certain type of emotion, or to make them feel uncomfortable. And I think that sort of technique can be used wisely in our video art.

collaboration

I would like to discus on my thoughts on collaborating art or performances. I loves it!
I think it’s a great way to open your mind to different ideas besides your own and work on making a unison piece of work. I feel that with my work I am always collaborating being with big medium or a group project, but even in my own personal work, like my self-portraits. I relate to things and events that I experience in that past and when I do a piece I feel the people who I interacted with help me out when doing a self portrait and I see it as a collaboration, there might not be in the video or helped out in the technical way but our experiences are what help me do my work.
